Rehearsals
My view during rehearsal for The Real Inspector Hound (my high school’s play).
It is my first time doing lights (since I don’t count doing spot light). I am totally lost. I know it is only my second day doing it but I feel like since I have done tech crew for 7 plays in high school, I should know way more then I actually do.

We started tech week for my schools production of The Real Inspector Hound today. I get to run the light board! The show has very little to do and we have over a week to tech it (we have done much larger shows in less time, so we are glad). This also means I get to actually learn how to use the light board and everything not just be told when to press buttons (this has happened to other people)....

Biology
I think the biology teachers have a little too much fun coming up with the problems in the genetics packet…

Things I have learned from tech crew
Clean, both well and often. It will make your life easier in the future (i.e. not having to scrap solidified egg off a platform 6 months later) and will prevent it from becoming a larger mess (i.e. not having to crawl half way down the access hallway wiping paint that someone tracked down the hallway after stepping in it).
Double check your math, always. It will save time, effort, and money if...

Techies in Vegas
Back in January I went to Las Vegas with some of my schools tech crew. IT WAS AWESOME! And I don’t mean awesome in the modern day sense of “that’s cool”, I mean it in the proper meaning of “to be awe inspiring”. We got there on a friday and went to KA that night. My friend Dan and I walked into the theater and our mouths literally dropped open. We also went to...

Why?
I used to love school. Love school as in I would cry when I had to stay home because I was sick. When I was sick two weeks ago I woke up thinking thank god I don’t have to go to school today every day I was sick (5 days total, ton of lovely make up work from that). Now, it is 10:30 at night and I haven’t been even able motivate myself to do my honors bio homework since I got home (my...

I should really learn to not miss 3 days of school, especially when my biology class is learning about meiosis. It would save me from getting texts from my friend Mollie saying “I know who you married to”. It could also save me from having to text my friend Alex “Hey, I’ve been told we got married, care to elaborate?”
These conversations are even weird when you are...
Las Vegas!
Next weekend I get to go to Las Vegas with some of my schools tech crew. We get to see KA and LOVE (both Cirque du Soleil). I know for sure we get to go on one back stage tour and and possibly another one. Getting to see shows on that scale, it is going to be amazing! My school as a fairly large stage, for a high school, but their stages are HUGE!
I’m really excited we leave right after...
